Typography Inspiration

In our final piece we will need to include a title. As we have chosen to do an urban drama we will have to make the title either display the genre or the narrative off our film. This means we will need to look at other urban dramas titles to get inspiration. The film title I am looking at for inspiration is Kidulthood. This is an urban drama made by a local English production company. the film talks about teenagers from London and the trouble they face such as crime and violence. This is similar to what we are doing as a concept of local drug users.

above is the title used in the opening sequence of the film. the writing is pasted onto a black background. This colour makes the audience think of negative connections between the darkness and what will happen in the film. The font used is also san sheriff, this means that writing isn't flowing as it cut off. This makes the writing look bold and prominent which makes it look ominous and looming. The writing is also faded around the ages and the letter O's used have flowing bits off of them. This fade makes it look like old rusty or broken industry's and makes connections between the urban environment it is set in.  The bits coming off the O,s also could represent the art and graffiti and different style of the inner cities. All these things I could take on when it comes to developing a title for the final piece. I would also though like to look at some films or extract where the title is merged with the actual location of the scene and so is evolved with the background.
